Looking at Cancer Survivors Through the Lens of a Camera
October, 2021
Every 6 months, I try to do a photo shoot for my line of clothing called Wrapped in Love. Wrapped in Love is a clothing line I developed to provide comfort, style and dignity for women with cancer from treatment through recovery. Cancer changes people, it evolves people and I want to learn all I can from the people I hope to help and inspire.

I use models of all ages and backgrounds. Cancer doesn’t discriminate and one person’s journey and treatment is different from someone else’s. I schedule a professional photographer, a studio space and the most important…a makeup/hair artist! As the models sit and have their make-up done before the photo shoot, they tell their stories and the lessons they’ve learned. Hair, nails, brows, lashes — they learned how to improvise during their illness, but they all maintain the importance of keeping a sense of style. As one woman said, it actually helps in the recovery process — if you feel you look good, it can help you feel better. And then we top it off with my line of clothing and these women come alive. The photos always speak for themselves.

Watching the photos being taken, I watch how the models react and move in my products. Do they love the fabrics? Are the colors right? Is there anything I could change? I am always listening and always up for improvement. I recently collaborated with a young mom of 3 who had cancer. The “Lauren” Camisole is one of my top sellers as it addresses the REAL needs of women post cancer surgery.
A HUGE thank you to these, and ALL, my beautiful models!
